A core part of our goals is raising awareness, educating the Nigerian public and shaping a positive perception of Parkinson’s disease across Nigeria. We do this through awareness events, webinars and training for medical and non-medical personnel, and advocacy campaigns.

Awareness & Advocacy Campaigns
ADPF organise public education drives, media outreaches, and community dialogues to dispel myths and reduce stigma. The goal is to foster inclusion and advocate for better healthcare policies. Some of our key programs are:

Educational & Capacity-Building Programs
We host webinars and professional training sessions for people with Parkinson’s, their caregivers, and healthcare practitioners to provide accurate information, effective self-management, and encourage evidence-based practice.

Community Outreach & Early Detection Screening Coming Soon
Due to the nature of Parkinson’s Disease, it often goes undetected. In 2026, ADPF will start conducting mobile outreaches to bring no-cost early screenings to underserved communities. These sessions will provide accurate knowledge on Parkinson’s and encourage early intervention, making healthcare accessible to as many as possible.

Professional & Volunteer Training
ADPF hosts training sessions to equip healthcare workers and volunteers with rehabilitation skills specific to Parkinson’s disease. The goal is to improve service quality and standardise care delivery for people with Parkinson’s.
